Oriental Maiden

Good Morning,

Last weekend we drove into Washington, DC to see the Cherry Blossoms.  We do this every year.  Sadly this year, we didn't get out of the car, my ankles are still too weak for walking.

No matter how many times I see the Cherry Blossoms, I am still impressed.  In
1912  a gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington, DC. The gift and annual celebration honor the lasting friendship between the United States and Japan and the continued close relationship between the two countries.

I decided to make a card with the digital stamp by Moonflower Stamps called Maiko in Spring  My colors were inspired by The Card Concept challenge #91 "Blossoms in Blue".

Here is my card.  I used digital Cherry Blossom Paper from FrouFrou Craft.  I distressed the paper with sandpaper.  I have had the blossoms for many years so I am not sure where it came from.  I put liquid pearls "Rose Gold" around the flowers and I added a bit of lace on the side.

Here is a close-up of the image.

I colored her with copic markers.

Here is the inside of the card.

The stamp is from Stampendous.

Tulips, Tulips Tulips!

Good Morning,

We had some beautiful weather here in Maryland over the weekend, it was in the 80's!  Every year my husband and I drive up to the District of Columbia to see the cherry blossoms.  If you have never experienced Spring in Washington, DC you have to come!  Make your plans, it is so lovely!

We decided to have a picnic at the National Arboretum, visit my parents graves and then ride around to look at the cherry blossoms.  My ankles still aren't strong enough for long walks, if you want to see the cherry blossoms a lot of walking is involved.

This is at the National Arboretum.  I took it with my zoom because I couldn't walk that far...sigh.  Anyway, seeing the daffodils and tulips made me want to do something with springtime flowers.  I saw that  My Time To Craft is having a challenge called Bag or Box with matching tag.  I actually came up with a box, tag and thank you card.

Here is the thank you card, it is very 3-D

Here is the tulip box or basket, notice I used the same tulips.

Here is the tulip tag:

INAS challenge #31

Good Morning,

This year is really flying by fast!  We are already up to challenge #31 - Paper Piecing.  Do you enjoy paper piecing?  I do, it is like putting a puzzle together.

Here is my design team card:

Isn't he a cute little bear?  This svg file is from Kadoodle Bug Designs.  Playing In the Rain.

One of the things that has really helped me be able to do a paper piecing is this handy dandy tool.

It has tacky stuff on one end that enables the paper pieces to be picked up and glued in place.

Thank You Card

Good morning,

I love making flowers.  I still remember that when I first started scrapbooking, not even card making yet, I was so intimidated by the idea of making flowers.  I remember that I had won a flower punch and I was almost afraid to use it.  Now here we are, years later and making flowers is one of my favorite things.

Is there something that you do now that was intimidating when you first started?

Here is my Thank You Card:
